Best Valentine’s Day Gifts for Gardeners

There is nothing more romantic than giving or receiving a gift relating to one’s passion. If you have a gardener in your life you want to recognize in a special way and are stumped as to how to say, “I’m grateful for you in my life”–we’re here to help. Here are some unique Valentine’s Day gift ideas to stir your imagination…

Garden Bon BonsFOR CULINARY GARDEN LOVERS

Anne Dowell, the creator of Garden Bon Bons warns: “This candy is for planting, not for eating!” In our opinion, these beautifully-wrapped boxes of seed truffles are appreciated even more than chocolates! They’re our #1 favorite all-time gift — handcrafted balls of seeds that can be planted either in a pot or directly in the garden. Tucked into each box are four sets of  herb-seeded bon bons molded from clay and organic compost then dusted with natural pesticides, like ground coffee and cinnamon. We offer three popular selections to choose from: Herbal Teas, Italian Herbs, and Culinary Basil.

FOR GARDEN ART LOVERSDancing Frogs

What could be a more perfect way to say, “Thank you for your support” on Valentine’s Day? Made from recycled aluminum, these ballet dancing frogs balance a lily pad bird feeder. It’s just one of many statues at The Playful Garden that would make a garden art lover smile.

BirdwatcherFOR BIRD LOVERS

This is a unique gift for a bird lover with a sense of humor–the birds actually fly in and out of the bird watcher’s nose! Carved from cedar, it’s one of the most well-built, functional birdhouses we have–and is handcrafted in the USA to boot. We love one-of-a-kind birdhouses and have a selection that is certain to delight your bird-watching buddy.

Garden GlovesFOR DIRT LOVERS

Like many gardeners and dirt lovers, I enjoy the feel of loamy soil sifting through my fingers when I garden…HOWEVER, I do still appreciate a good pair of gloves when needed, especially when they both look and feel good.  These do. Pair them up with a colorful soil scoop or garden bandit tool and  your dirt-lover will be happy, happy, happy!

Amore plaqueFOR PASSION LOVERS

Handcrafted by local artist Tom Moore, this smooth concrete plaque makes you want to sing, “Amore!” Tom’s passion and enthusiasm for his art is reflected in his exquisite concrete pieces. They range in size from small doves to a gorgeous 4-1/2-foot tall Vineyard Goddess. Just about everything he creates would be a perfect Valentine’s Day gift for a passionate gardener. (Ask to see his fabulous cherub guardian angel wall adornment!)

FOR BELL LOVERS

A popular gift at The Playful Garden, the heart bell at right is also made by a local artisan. Give it to someone you care about as a reminder of your heart connection. All of the steel is reclaimed from landfills before they are powder coated. Wow! Talk about making something beautiful from a steel can! The affirmation bells spelling “love,” “kiss,” “sweetheart,” and “bliss” are also perfect for V-Day gifts! (p.s. we have some great big, beautiful temple bells at The Playful Garden, too!)

Oh, my goodness–we have so-o-ooo many gift-giving ideas up our rolled-up sleeves that it’s difficult to keep it to just a handful. We hope you’ll want to stop by our store on Caymus Street in Napa to take a look. And, if you still can’t seem to find the perfect gift for your special gardener, you might consider purchasing a gift certificate from The Playful Garden…smiles (and a happy heart) guaranteed.

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!
