Upcoming Holiday Events

Event Notice Collage

Cheers from The Playful Garden! We have two fun holiday events coming up:

Please join us this Saturday afternoon for a book-signing event with local author Roseanne Kirby. 10% of our sales during the event will benefit the Napa County Animal Shelter. If you have any used towels or blankets to spare, please bring them with you to help keep the animals warm at the shelter. Hot apple cider and goodies for canines (and their owners) will be served. Take a free ride around town on the Holiday Wine Trolley after the event (see information below).

Thursday, 12/12, 4-7PM

Mark your calendars for a jewelry trunk show you won’t want to miss. Next Thursday, December 12 from 4-7PM, local artist Sonia Lub will be sharing a larger selection of her unique jewelry which is already on display at The Playful Garden. Beautiful jewelry. Beautiful person. Come join us!

Hop on the Horse & Carriage at the corner of Coombs & First (Coombs Plaza) for a free ride around town from 4:30-7:30PM every Thursday before Christmas. This coming Thursday, stop by The Playful Garden for Sonia’s jewelry trunk show and warm up with a hot cup of apple cider and holiday treats!

Free trolley rides on the festive Holiday Wine Trolley in Downtown Napa every Fri., Sat. & Sun. from 3-6PM! The Trolley loop stops at four locations: The Andaz Hotel, Napa River Inn, Oxbow Public Market and Main and Pearl. Come on down, get on the trolley and be a tourist in your own town this holiday season.

Before or after your horse and carriage or trolley ride, stop by The Playful Garden to shop for unique holiday gifts. Our hours have been extended for your shopping convenience (see hours below). We have new products for you to see, and we’d love to see you, too!

Duke the Dog Explorer Book Signing

Please join us for our first event of the Holiday Season, to be held this Saturday from 1-4PM! It’s the book signing of a delightful book called “Duke the Dog Explorer,” written by local author Roseanne Kirby.

Roseanne and her husband, Bruce, have enjoyed the Napa Valley as home for many years. She was inspired and challenged to capture the story of their rambunctious pup (“Duke”) by friends and family. Duke’s antics are entertaining vignettes about their life in Napa and true stories of a dog looking for adventure in wine country. The book is beautifully illustrated by Dave Huddleston.

Image10% of our sales during the “Duke” book-signing event will be donated to the Napa County Animal Shelter.

The dogs and cats at the Napa County Animal Shelter get cold in the winter, too, and there is a need for used towels, sheets and blankets. If you have clean bedding to spare, please bring it with you and we’ll make sure it gets to the Animal Shelter.

There will be treats for everyone on Saturday afternoon–including your canine friends! Hope to see you there–

Have a heart?

Happy New Year, Playful Garden friends!

Are you intrigued by, or a collector of nature hearts? Bring in a heart-shaped rock, shell, leaf, etc. and we’ll give you 10% off any “heart” gift (meaning heart-shaped or containing a heart). Oh heck, in the spirit of love we’ll include anything with the word “love” in it as well! We have a fabulous selection of heartful gifts, from heart pendants to hand-crafted clay wall hearts.

This offer expires the end of the day on Valentine’s Day, so you have a whole month to find your nature heart, which will have a place of honor in our front display window. Here’s a collage with a few ideas…(okay, we realize that a heart-shaped spider web might be a little difficult to bring in…)

“Jingle Bell Trot” on First St. in Napa 12/15

DowntownXmas_poster2012_v2Put your bells on your toes and jingle all the way up or down First St. in Napa on Saturday, December 15th from 3-7pm or…TROT your way inside a horse-drawn carriage!

A $5/person suggested donation to COPE Family Center will get you on board for a delightful horse-drawn carriage ride (Napa Valley Carriage Co.) through downtown First and Second Streets. Jump in the carriage at Coombs & First Street and you and eleven other lucky passengers will enjoy the holiday lights, store-front decorations and the clip-clop of the horses that will literally take you back in time to the “good old days.”

But there’s more, ‘cause the “good old days” are now. This celebration is intended to be a festive open house, where you can meet the owners and employees of your downtown businesses face to face…and where more than 20 businesses on First Street in Napa will be spreading holiday cheer with offerings of free beverages, holiday treats, music and special offers for patrons and shoppers.

“Jingle Bells” is music to our ears…want to join with your neighbors, family and friends to share your voice or instruments? Join “The Four Sopranos” who will be caroling on First Street and bring joy to others this holiday season.

This event is sponsored by the following merchants on First Street. It’s our gift to you.
